4 kegel exercises every woman should do

The pelvic floor refers to the muscles which support your organs including bladder, uterus and intestines.

The strength and general health of your pelvic floor muscles are vital to sexual function. They play an important role in arousal, pleasure, and orgasm response.

If your pelvic floor muscles are strong, you can experience a heightened orgasm response. The firmness can also improve pleasure for the partner.

    What are kegel exercises?
Kegel exercises are also known as pelvic-floor exercises. Essentially, these involve repeatedly contracting and relaxing your pelvic floor muscles.

The great thing about these exercises is that you can pretty much do them anywhere and anytime. If you do them right, no one can tell. Plus, you need no special equipment, attire or space in order to do a good kegel exercise session.

Before you begin exercising, the first step is to identify your pelvic floor muscles. If you are not sure, imagine that you have to urinate but there is no washroom around. How do you hold it? The muscles you clench (contract) are your pelvic floor muscles, which we shall strengthen through the following exercises.

    1. Pulses
Start by sitting in a comfortable position. You can also lie down if you want. Now remember the pelvic floor muscles you identified. All you need to do is to contract them like holding your pee, hold the clench for a second, and then release and relax the muscles.

Start with 15 counts at a time and then increase as you practice it daily. You can also do it multiple times in a day.

    2. Contract and hold
This is a more advanced stage of the previous exercise. All you need to do is to increase the duration of the hold for 3-5 seconds. You can do it whenever you find time. Do 10 reps in a row 3-4 times a day.

    3. Kegel with bridge
If you want to further strengthen and challenge your pelvic floor muscles, then give this exercise a try.

Lie on your back and bend your knees and feet hip width apart. Now, gently inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. As you exhale, simultaneously do a Kegel contracting of muscles and lift your hips slightly up. Return back to the original position and inhale, while relaxing your pelvic floor muscles. Repeat 10 times.

    4. Standing kegel
Stand tall with a good posture. Open your legs so that your feet stand hip width apart. First inhale for 5 seconds and then exhale for 5 seconds.

As you exhale, simultaneously do a Kegel by contracting and holding your muscles. Inhale and relax your muscles. Repeat 10 times.

  • Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid to Try Forex Trading

Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid to Try Forex Trading

These days, there is a lot of talk about how to grow your money. There are investment experts who speak on television, there are websites geared specifically towards teaching you ways to increase your wealth, and there are influencers who seem to have it all and might inspire you to try to reach the same level. This may seem like a lot of pressure at first, but one way that you can take control of your financial future is by taking some of your savings and putting it in the forex market. Here are some of the reasons why you shouldn’t be afraid of entering this market.

There Are a Range of Tools That Can Simplify Things

Sure, you might feel intimidated at first when you are entering the market for the first time and getting used to what to expect. But as you get accustomed to how currency trading works, you might be shocked by how quickly you adjust and how much confidence you gain in a short span of time. Part of the reason why so many people are able to get comfortable with trading currency pairs in forex is because there are various tools that can help you succeed. The right trading platform can make it simple to place and track trades, while tools like a pips calculator can help you work on reducing risk, so you can lower the odds that you will make the wrong moves that could cost you money.

You Can Practice on a Demo Account

Another reason why you shouldn’t feel terrified to enter the forex market: there are free demo accounts that give you the opportunity to get some practice before you even start trading currency pairs with your real money. That’s right, with a demo account, you will be able to work on placing trades, buying and selling currencies just like you would in the real market, without any risk. Because you are able to use a virtual currency instead of your actual money, you don’t need to worry about incurring any losses even if you make the biggest mistakes when making your trades. This gives you a lot of freedom to play around with different trading strategies that you might have read or heard about, and you can figure out what works before you enter the actual market with your real money.

The Right Online Broker Can Provide Support

One of the most important things that you will do when you decide to start trading forex is determine which online broker you will go with. If you select the right one, you can set a great foundation on which you can grow as a trader. So, carefully evaluate your options to find a broker that will not only provide you with access to a demo account and top-quality trading tools and platforms, but will also be there to support and help you if you have any questions or concerns. This can give a lot of assurance to beginner level forex traders. But even for advanced traders, it is worth looking into brokers that understand you may need help even in the middle of the night, especially since the forex market is open 24 hours a day, five days a week.

    The Bottom Line

Overall, the forex market can certainly seem intimidating to someone who has never traded a currency pair in their life. But as you begin to see how it works, and you learn about the various tools that can simplify things and give you greater confidence, you might find yourself ready to start trading before you know it.

People who exercise later in the day reduce their risk of diabetes, new study shows

Diabetes is a serious and life-changing condition. There are two types of diabetes – type 1 and type 2 – both of these result from a higher level of sugar or glucose in your blood.

Several healthy lifestyle changes, such as eating a well-balanced diet and exercising regularly can help in the prevention of diabetes and diabetes-related health issues. However, what time you exercise can also make a huge difference in the benefits you reap.

According to a new study, people who work out later in the day are less likely to develop diabetes, compared to those who work out in the mornings.

    About the study
Engaging in regular exercise late in the day improves blood glucose control among older adults, according to scientists in the Netherlands.

In the research, published in the Diabetologia journal, the impact of exercise was studied on 775 Dutch men and women. The participants were aged between 45 and 65 years old. They were split into three groups based on their workout timings – morning (between 6 am and 12 pm), afternoon (12 pm to 6 pm), or evening (6 pm to midnight). The intensity of their workouts was moderate-to-vigorous.

    What the findings show
Insulin resistance is when the cells of the body do not respond properly to the hormone insulin. This can lead to type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, and prediabetes. The researchers found that both the later groups saw reduced insulin resistance – by 18 percent for the afternoon group and 25 percent for the evening group.

The researchers found that performing most moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) in the afternoon or evening, compared to during the day, was linked to up to 25 percent reduced insulin resistance.

    How the findings help
“These results suggest that timing of physical activity throughout the day is relevant for the beneficial effects of physical activity on insulin sensitivity,” the researchers said.

“Further studies should assess whether the timing of physical activity is indeed important for the occurrence of type 2 diabetes, taking into account the influence of chronotype,” they added.

    Symptoms of diabetes
Here are some symptoms of diabetes to watch out for:

-Peeing more than usual, especially at night

    -Feeling thirsty all the time

    -Itching around genitals

-Cuts or wounds taking longer to heal

    -Blurred vision

    -Feeling exhausted

    -Sudden weight loss

Habits of people with great skin

The moment we open social media we see everyone flaunting their beautiful and glowing skin.

The clean truth behind this is – Such glowing skin is no Miracle. Skincare is an essential part of looking fresh and fabulous at any time of the year.

Beautiful skin is attained by following a strict and healthy routine with continuous effort.

A proper morning skincare routine and quality lifestyle tweaks can help us achieve our skin goals.

We need to pamper our skin right before going to bed and immediately after waking up in the morning so that our skin feels ready and fresh for the day ahead of us.

We all desire glowing skin to feel beautiful and confident about ourselves.

Everyone is looking for ways to look perfect; here are a few habits to attain glowing and healthy skin.

    1. Cleansing is important

Cleansing is incredibly essential before sleeping at night and after waking up in the morning. It refreshes and deep cleans our skin and gives our complexion a chance to breathe freely. Regular skin cleansing truly makes a difference and helps maintain our healthy skin. A Facial cleanser removes all sorts of pollutants from the skin, helping to keep pores clear and prevent skin conditions such as acne and pimples. Without cleansing our skin will be more inclined towards breakouts, dehydration, and premature aging.

    2. It’s all about sunscreen

We all clearly know how important it is to wear sunscreen on our skin on a daily basis for skin protection. Sunscreen can make a substantial change in our daily life as it protects our skin from harmful and damaging Ultraviolet Radiation. Even on a Rainy or cloudy day, we are at risk of UV exposure. UVA rays can make a hole through the clouds, rain, and Fog, leaving us exposed. Even when it is cloudy or rainy, applying sunscreen is one of the best ways to prevent skin cancer.

    3. Indulge in a balanced diet

A well-balanced diet provides your body with the correct amount of Vitamins, minerals, protein, and nutrients to keep the body and mind healthy, which leads to having happy and glowing skin. Everyone has got their favorite skincare products but no one can deny the fact that beautiful skin can be achieved by following a balanced diet.

    4. Say NO to smoking

Smoking eventually deprives the skin of oxygen and nutrients, which leads to the paleness of the skin and uneven coloring of skin tone. Everyone develops wrinkles after a certain age but smokers tend to develop them earlier at a young age. Smoking will dehydrate our skin resulting in dull and unhealthy skin.

    5. Have a proper sleep cycle

While snoozing our body increases our blood flow to the skin, which results in waking up to glowing skin. Skipping sleep or lack of sleep will make our skin look lifeless and dead. Sleep deprivation causes a decrease in blood flow to the skin around our face. At least 7-9 hours of sleep is vital for healthy and glowing skin.

    6. Drink plenty of water

Our skin loses elasticity and feels rough if we reduce our daily water intake. Water is the best solution for every skincare issue, it increases our blood flow, makes our skin look healthier, and gives it a glow. Drinking plenty of water has a great impact on skin hydration and appearance.

Taking care of your inner health is the easiest way to fix your skin’s condition. Beautiful, glowing skin is a reflection of good health. This can be achieved with the right lifestyle practices and skincare habits. Skin concerns like acne, dark patches, tan; fine lines, etc. are the biggest hindrance to glowing skin. Address your skin concerns using proper products that contain active ingredients.

5 ridiculous things “Rich kids” in South Africa spend on

The rich kid is a phrase commonly used in South Africa to describe individuals, especially young adults, who are rich and liberal in their spending.

Here are some of the things they spend their money on:

    1. Their pets
You may find this hard to believe, but rich people in South Africa will spend outrageous amounts to get their dream pets and spend much more in keeping and grooming them. The most popular of them would most definitely be expensive, high-maintenance dogs.

These are not for simply watching over their mansions but for their pleasure and companionship. They most times see these pets as their “babies” and call themselves “dog mum/dad,” “cat mum/dad,” etc., and are very attached to them.

They also sometimes go as far as adorning them with expensive designer items.

    2. One-of-a-kind Artwork
Many say that buying expensive artwork is an excellent way to save and invest money, but we couldn’t help but add it to this list. Many rich people not only buy artworks because they want their money safe for tomorrow but because they want to show off and portray a certain kind of Je ne sais quoi.

Artworks, especially those sold at auctions, are sometimes reeled out for a little more than what they are worth because a particular “rich kid” wants to prove a point. It is a subtle yet sophisticated way to show off their wealth and boast about their ego.

    3. Very expensive parties
When it comes to parties, “Rich Kids” spare no expense. From extravagant party themes and chic aesthetics to destination parties at the choicest locations, whenever the rich in South Africa want to have parties, they always bring out the big guns.

Whether it’s a wedding, a birthday, an anniversary, or just because they feel like it, millions of rands are spent at the most outrageous amounts to pull off the most talked about parties.

    4. VIP/VVIP Tickets
Rich kids don’t play with their entertainment; hence when it comes to going to shows and events, they are willing to spend a premium for the first-class experience and treatment.

Reserved tables with front seat view at the event, after-party and backstage access, and even getting to meet the celebrities or dignitaries involved in the event, rich folks in SA will most likely never go to a party if these are not accessible to them. Because why not if they can pay for it?

    5. Luxurious Holidays
Luxurious holidays are synonymous with rich kids any day because how else will they oppress their followers on social media and show that they have arrived?

From the most popular vacation spots in places like Greece, Mauritius, and France to isolated private islands that no one has heard of, rich folks in South Africa will always be doing the most when it comes to relaxing away from home. Let’s not forget first-class plane tickets or even private jet trips.

Fascinating New Year’s traditions from cultures around the world

    Happy (almost!) New Year!

Whether you’re ringing in New Year’s Eve from some exciting foreign country or at home with family and friends, you probably have a New Year’s tradition or two.

Common traditions throughout the United States include singing “Auld Lang Syne” to greet the New Year, and eating black-eyed peas for good luck.

Around the world, cultures welcome the change of the calendar with unique New Year’s traditions of their own.

Here are some of our favorite New Year’s traditions around the world.

    1. Spain

In Spain, it is customary to eat 12 grapes – one at each stroke of the clock at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Each grape represents good luck for one month of the coming year. In bigger cities like Madrid and Barcelona, people gather in main squares to eat their grapes together and pass around bottles of cava.

    2. Colombia

In hopes of a travel-filled new year, residents of Colombia carry empty suitcases around the block. That’s one New Year’s tradition we can get behind!

    3. Denmark

Residents of Denmark greet the New Year by throwing old plates and glasses against the doors of family and friends to banish bad spirits. They also stand on chairs and jump off of them together at midnight to “leap” into January in hopes of good luck.

    4. Finland

In Finland, people predict the coming year by casting molten tin into a container of water, then interpreting the shape the metal takes after hardening. A heart or ring means a wedding, while a ship predicts travel and a pig declares there will be plenty of food.

    5. Panama

To drive off evil spirits for a fresh New Year’s start, it is tradition to burn effigies (muñecos) of well-known people such as television characters and political figures in Panama. The effigies are meant to represent the old year.

    6. Scotland

During Scotland’s New Year’s Eve celebration of Hogmanay, “first-footing” is practiced across the country. The first person who crosses a threshold of a home in the New Year should carry a gift for luck. Scots also hold bonfire ceremonies where people parade while swinging giant fireballs on poles, supposedly symbols of the sun, to purify the coming year.

    7. Philippines

You’ll find round shapes all over the Philippines on New Year’s Eve as representatives of coins to symbolize prosperity in the coming year. Many families display piles of fruit on their dining tables and some eat exactly 12 round fruits (grapes being the most common) at midnight. Many also wear polka dots for luck.

    8. Brazil

In Brazil, as well as other Central and South American countries like Ecuador, Bolivia, and Venezuela, it is thought to be lucky to wear special underwear on New Year’s Eve. The most popular colors are red, thought to bring love in the New Year, and yellow, thought to bring money.

    9. Greece

An onion is traditionally hung on the front door of homes on New Year’s Even in Greece as a symbol of rebirth in the New Year. On New Year’s Day, parents wake their children by tapping them on the head with the onion.

  • 9 uses of white vinegar

    9 uses of white vinegar

White vinegar, sometimes called distilled or spirit vinegar, has been a mainstay in households worldwide for thousands of years. It’s easy to understand why.
Although best known for its culinary uses, white vinegar is also great for cleaning and laundry.
But don’t confuse it with brown ‘malt’ vinegar, which is good on chips but not so much as a fabric conditioner!

Here are 9 surprising uses for white vinegar:

    1. Use as a rinse-aid
Help glass and cutlery stay smear and streak free in the dishwasher and prevent glassware becoming cloudy by simply pouring the vinegar into your rinse-aid dispenser.

    2. Get glass gleaming
Give windows, mirrors and shower screens a streak-free shine by spraying on white vinegar and wiping off with a clean, lint-free cloth or scrunched-up newspaper.

    3. Brighten small appliances
Banish limescale from your kettle, coffee machine and iron. Spray onto the encrusted surface, wait for 10 minutes and rinse clean. Using hot water will enhance the reaction, helping to dissolve the limescale. To clean your iron; empty the water reservoir and fill a third full with the vinegar. Switch the iron onto the steam setting and iron an old cloth until all the vinegar has been used. Switch off and leave to cool. Repeat the process with clean water to flush out any remaining vinegar. Make sure you empty the reservoir of water every time you finish with the iron to reduce future deposits forming.

    4. Clean up the kitchen
Vinegar is a great multi-purpose cleaner and is perfect for brightening up the kitchen sink and draining board, where limescale deposits from evaporated water can dull the surface. Simply pour onto a clean cloth or sponge and wipe over.

    5. Keep laundry soft
Try it in place of your usual fabric conditioner; just add 40ml to your dispenser. It will leave laundry beautifully soft and there won’t be a vinegary smell!

    6. Remove fabric stains
Spray onto colour-safe fabrics and upholstery to remove dirt and organic stains. Then wipe over with a clean, damp cloth. It’s also great as a pre-wash stain treatment for shirt and blouse cuffs and collars, and underarm deodorant marks.

    7. Freshen up after pets
If your pet isn’t yet house trained, spraying white vinegar on the area of an ‘accident’ will clean and deodorise it. And the masking smell of the vinegar will deter your pet from re-offending in the same place.

    8. Tackle dull taps and shower heads
White vinegar works even more effectively at removing limescale when it’s hot and given time to work its magic. Either wrap loo paper around the tap or shower head and spray liberally, or submerge in a plastic bag of warm vinegar secured by an elastic band. Leave for at least an hour before rinsing.

    9. Soften scratchy towels
Detergent and conditioner build-up can make towels stiff. Soak them in 200g soda crystals and 500ml hot water for an hour, before washing them as normal substituting white vinegar for the fabric conditioner. If possible, tumble dry. Repeat this method if needed until the towels are restored to their former softness.

    Avoid using white vinegar on:

Frosted glass – it removes the etching· Limestone, natural stone or marble worktops· Metal plated surfaces where the plating is already peeling

5 pre-workout snacks to keep you energetic at gym

An empty stomach while working out can distract you from your fitness goals.

Yes, the grumbling sound is not only embarrassing in front of other gym-goers but also distracting. If you decide to workout without having something to boost your energy then you will end up thinking about it more than the exercise that you are supposed to do.

But it’s not a call to be taken by your taste buds. You need to see whether your pre-workout snacks consist of the right amount of minerals, vitamins, and other essential ingredients.

Worry not, cause we’ll be sharing some tips on how to go longer and stronger while working out.

So, fuel up on these pre-workout snacks before your next sweat session.

Pre-workout snacks to eat before a breakfast
But if you aren’t too sure what to have as a pre-workout snack then take some tips below:

    1. Banana smoothie
Have at least one glass of this yummy smoothie. One medium ripe banana provides about 450 mg potassium, 3 grams fiber, 110 calories, 1 gram protein, 28 grams carbohydrate and 15 grams sugar (naturally occurring), according to Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health.

Banana smoothie is a great pre-workout food as it might help keep you full as they have resistant starch or pectin. They are “packed with potassium, which is a mineral that aids in maintaining nerve and muscle function, and carbohydrates. They give you the energy needed to complete your sweat session.

    2. Sweet potato chaat
If you are thinking of swapping sweet potatoes for white potatoes then you would want to go easy on the portions. Sweet potatoes are rich in beta carotene, and they have a high glycemic index as well as glycemic load, almost as high as that of a white potato, as per Harvard TH Chan. Most people don’t dig into sweet potatoes in the same huge quantities as much as white potatoes. This is perhaps why research studies have not found sweet potatoes to be a major culprit for diabetes and weight gain. Sweet potatoes are one of the best forms of carbohydrates for sustainable and slow-releasing energy throughout an intense workout. Just don’t go overboard with it, and everything will be fine.

    3. Black coffee and banana
The expert suggested you to include one cup of black coffee and one banana in your pre-workout snack. According to British Journal of Sports Medicine, caffeine can increase exercise performance by enhancing strength, anaerobic power, aerobic endurance as well as muscle endurance.

As for banana being the perfect pre-workout snack, this fruits is not only easy to digest, but also provides a good amount of potassium, an electrolyte that gets depleted when you start sweating during exertion.

    4. Coconut water
Just have one glass of the natural goodness. Coconut water is high in potassium, which ensures you do not start cramping in the middle of your workout.

It is the perfect beverage for restoring hydration and replenishing electrolytes lost during exercise.
    5. Peanut butter with whole grain bread
One tablespoon of peanut butter nicely spread on one slice of whole grain bread should be eaten before exercise. Many people say that peanut butter is a healthy food, but it contains saturated fat, and so people might wonder if it is healthy at all.

As per Harvard Health Publishing, the presence of saturated fat doesn’t mean a food is unhealthy. Olive oil and even tofu which are considered to be healthy have some saturated fat. It’s ultimately the whole package of nutrients that determines how good a particular food is for health. One serving of peanut butter has 3.3 grams of saturated fat and 12.3 grams of unsaturated fat, and that puts it up there with olive oil if you look at the ratio of unsaturated to saturated fat. Peanut butter also gives you vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients.

What’s more? It is an excellent fuel for strength training.

So, add these healthy pre-workout snacks to your diet so that your fitness doesn’t get compromised.

  • What age should children learn how to swim

What age should children learn how to swim

The topic of when children should be taught how to swim has been on people’s minds lately.

Recently we heard the tragic news that Davido’s son tragically downed in their pool, and this has revived that whole discussion about children’s safety around pools. It’s even scarier to think about how this isn’t just a one-off situation. There have been other celebrities who have lost their children due to drowning, and there are other hundreds of kids every year who are part of that statistic.

So, now the question is, when is the right time for children to be taken for swimming and pool safety lessons?

Generally, the age that is safest for children to start lessons is four years of age. However, some parents and safety instructors encourage these lessons as early as six months, supporting that there are many benefits of starting this early.

Let us look at some of the advantages and risks you need to know right below:

Training during infant stages (3 months to 11 months)

Being in the pool can offer amazing benefits for babies. It is relaxing, it encourages bonding between parents and children, and it has some benefits for their cognitive development as well.

With proper training, babies are able to learn basics such as how to float on their backs. The process of training an infant how to swim usually takes a bit longer, but it is possible.

The issue with starting training at this age is that there is still no evidence that doing this will reduce the risk of drowning. These lessons can help to increase bonding during playtime in the pool but, they still don’t have a sense of danger and neither are they able to swim independently. Constant supervision is mandatory.

Training during toddler stages (12 months to 3 years)

At this stage, between one and four, they are starting to develop more. They are able to understand swimming and safety lessons better as compared to those who are younger.

At this age, these lessons can help to prevent cases of drowning, although they still can’t fully swim independently.

The biggest problem here is when toddlers are thrown into the pool as a test of how well they can swim. This can be counterproductive and even cause severe water phobia as they grow older.

Training from age four (age 4+)

This is probably the age that people agree children should be taken for lessons. They are able to understand basic precautionary steps around the pool as well as how to independently swim in case of danger.

In conclusion, the most important thing is to ensure that your child is being safely trained. You need to do all the checks to make sure that where you’re taking them is a reputable place and that you’re being involved in the lessons, especially for infants and toddlers.

And, if you have a pool at home, you have to up the safety by fencing the pool and taking other steps to prevent any accidents. Whenever you go for swimming, even for children four years and above, you still need to supervise them carefully.
