  • How Dating apps cause Depression

    How Dating apps cause Depression

In this age of digital technology, it’s largely young people who take the risk of meeting new individuals online.

Many people make this choice since dating apps provide a large space in which to meet potential lovers.

However, the more time people spend online looking for love or the right person, the more depression, rage, and anxiety they develop.

There are advantages and disadvantages to using dating apps; the disadvantages should really concern you.

Here’s how dating apps leave you depressed

    1. Low self-esteem

Constant rejection from people you meet online can leave you wondering and questioning your worth. It could bite your self-esteem and make you feel you’re not good enough.

    2. Fake identities

On online dating applications, there are a lot of liars and deceivers. When you learn about their true identity, such as their financial situation, height, personality traits, and even their marital status. It might lead to trust issues and emotional collapse.

    3. Huge risk of meeting abusers

Meeting people online comes with a lot of risk. When you eventually meet them, you could be raped, abused, beaten, or even kidnapped.

    4. Frustration

Experiencing constant rejection or meeting people who aren’t interested in you can leave you and your love life frustrated.

    5. Unlimited number of options

Dating apps gives you a variety of choices. This sounds like a good thing, but on the flip side, too many options confuse the brain. As a result, having too many options on dating apps can lead to confusion over who to date.

    6. Social awkwardness

Because of the vast number of people you might meet online, becoming addicted to dating apps can cause you to avoid going out with friends and networking with other people. If you continue like this, it’s only a matter of time before you become socially awkward.

Imagine getting acquainted with a stranger online and travelling miles to meet them only to find out they lied about their real identity. There’s no way that won’t leave you devastated. Dating apps can be fun but they can also leave you depressed if you’re not cautious.

  • How to remove excess sugar from your body

How to remove excess sugar from your body

Most sugar gets accumulated in the body and can later lead to different medical conditions like diabetes, stroke, high blood, and low blood pressure, cancer, weight gain, increased risk of heart disease, among other hazardous conditions. For these reasons, added sugar should be kept to a minimum range.

Eating sugar is good because it has some health benefits however, a recent study shows that men who eat sugar excessively have more risk of developing weak erection or erectile dysfunction.

In this article, I shall be discussing three things to do regularly to remove excess sugar from your body system.

Some warning symptoms of blood sugar levels include.

    Increased thirst.
    frequent urination.
    Fatigue.
    Nausea and vomiting.
    Shortness of breath.
    Stomach pain.
    Fruity breath odor.
    A very dry mouth.
You are advised to apply what I am going to discuss in this article or seek medical attention if you start experiencing these symptoms in your body for proper prescription and treatment. The following are what to do to remove excess sugar from your body fast.

    1. Regular Exercise

Most doctors do encourage older adults and children to always practice some exercise to enable them to get rid of sugar and other harmful substances. Physical activity can lower your blood sugar up to 24 hours or more after your workout by making your body more sensitive to insulin. Become familiar with how your blood sugar responds to exercise. Checking your blood sugar level more often before and after exercise can help you see the benefits of activity.

    2. Always Eat Garlic

Garlic consumption may also reduce the incidence of heart disease, a condition that affects approximately 80 percent of people with diabetes. According to the 2006 study found that raw garlic might help reduce blood sugar levels, as well as reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. Although garlic has an unpleasant odor which makes it hard to consume. But the study shows that garlic contains antioxidants and antibacterial properties which makes it a good option for people with diabetes and blood sugar levels.

    3. Always Eat Bitter Kola

Bitter kola is a natural fruit of a plant which have a lot of health benefits. Over the years, research shows that the high levels of potassium in bitter kola may be a contributing factor in reducing inflammation. The chemical called kolaviron, which is found in bitter kola, may protect against hypoglycemia in people with type 2 diabetes.

  • 5 diets you should NOT try in 2022!!!

5 diets you should NOT try in 2022!!!

New Year is almost here and most of us are ready with our New Year Resolutions that circle around fitness, health and growth. Exceptional crowds in gymnasiums are markers of the New Year and it is often seen that people take up new fitness regimens to achieve their resolutions.

As a part of these regimes, people follow different diets that promise weight loss in short periods or at times, in the best of ways. However, not all of these prove to be as beneficial as they promise to be.

In fact, the U.S. News & World Report evaluated the best diets and found that diets that ranked the highest in their reports were easy to follow and nutritious, while those that ranked low on the list were quite difficult to follow.

We bring to you five diets that you should stay away from in the upcoming year so that you can manage sustainable weight loss.

    1. Acid alkaline diet
This diet proscribes foods that promote acid production in the body, for example, beef. The diet recommends alkaline food items or neutral ones because if we keep eating acid-producing foods in our body, then our systems will be occupied with removing acid from the body so that optimum health can be maintained. As a part of the diet, food items like grains, poultry, meat and dairy should be eliminated and fruits, legumes and vegetables should be included s much as possible.

    2. Fertility diet
As the name itself suggests, the diet aims at improving fertility in women and optimizes overall reproductive health by increasing the consumption of good fats and whole grains and limiting carbohydrates. Since the diet is low-carb, it leads to weight loss but there isn’t enough evidence to support that it increases fertility.

    3. Glycaemic-index diet
Choosing foods based on your blood sugar levels is recommended by this diet. Foods that are higher on the glycaemic index scale are rich in carbohydrates. Since this diet cuts out high sugar foods it does help weight loss for sure but many healthy fruits are on the higher end of the glycaemic index scale but are good for health. In addition to this, there is no actual proof of losing weight through this diet as calories play no role in this diet.

    4. Anti-inflammatory diet
The diet isn’t specific but mostly focuses on reducing inflammation in the body. The belief on which this diet is based is that what we eat is linked directly to inflammation levels. Eating a diet that is rich in healthy fats like fish, fruits and vegetables can lower inflammation levels in the body.

    5. Paleo diet
This diet has gained immense popularity in recent times and states that eating foods that were only available to cavemen would help them lose weight. Foods like meat, fish, vegetables are preferred whereas other foods like refined sugar, grains, dairy and legumes aren’t considered to be suitable. This diet restricts the consumption of whole grains and is therefore not recommended.

  • The means of having a supportive partner

The means of having a supportive partner

When you fantasize about being in a relationship as a single woman, chances are that beyond all the superficial stuff — someone who’s attractive, has a great job, etc. — all you really want is to have a supportive partner.

But what does that actually mean? When you’re part of a happy, healthy couple, here’s what you can expect from your other half.

    1. They’re your #1 cheerleader and your biggest fan
A supportive partner is one who boosts your confidence and cheers you on as you get out there and conquer all of your goals. No matter what dream you’re pursuing or what task you’re undertaking, they’re right there behind you, shouting in support and boasting to everyone they know about just how incredible you are. It feels amazing!

    2. They encourage you to be your best but never try to change you
No one should ever try to turn you into someone you’re not – they should love you just as you are. A supportive partner backs you when you decide you want to change jobs, go back to school, join a gym, whatever. They let you know they’re there for you if you need them and remind you that you can do anything you put your mind to.

    3. They’re a solid sounding board
Sometimes you just need someone who will listen to you to rant about something annoying that happened in your day or let off steam when you’re feeling stressed about a fight you had with a friend. A supportive partner will be that person for you. They won’t interrupt you, try to fix your issue (unless you ask for their advice), or judge you for what you’re saying. Instead, they’ll be a solid sounding board so you leave the conversation feeling much more relaxed.

    4. They lift you up when you’re feeling down
When you’re upset about something or even about nothing at all, a supportive partner will be there to help lift you up. They know that sometimes you need to feel your feelings, but they also understand that there’s so much to be happy about and grateful for in life, and they always manage to find the perfect way to remind you of this. They always bring a smile to your face even when you’re feeling down.

    5. They know how to make you laugh
No one can make you laugh quite like them. They tell you the dumbest, most hilarious jokes and manage to find the humor in any situation. They know that laughter truly is the best medicine in life and that it’s the thing that will get you through all the hard times.

    6. They’re your perfect opposite in many ways
Maybe you’re impatient but they have the patience of a saint. Maybe they have a bad temper but you’re more forgiving. Whatever the case, a supportive partner is also one that balances you and vice versa. Somehow when you’re together, you manage to find the perfect middle ground. It’s such a gift.

  • MAMPINTSHA RELEASES VIDEO AMID BABES WODUMO AND MAKHADZI DRAMA

MAMPINTSHA RELEASES VIDEO AMID BABES WODUMO AND MAKHADZI DRAMA

Babes Wodumo, Mampintsha and Makhadzi have been trending on social media after Babes went ranting on Makhadzi accusing her of bedding her hubby, Mandla ‘Mampintsha’ Maphumulo.

Makhadzi took to social media to address Babes’ allegations denying that she had slept with her husband.

She went on to tell her to deal with her husband for looking at her and not attacking her, tarnishing her image for what her man did.

“You can’t expect me to be able to stop your man from looking at me, deal with your man who likes women, not ask me to stop him from looking at me. How can that be possible,” she said responding to Babes.

Meanwhile, Mzansi has been calling Mampintsha to give his side of the story amidst the Babes Wodumo – Makhadzi beef.

Mampintsha took to Tiktok, where he dropped a video that has left people even more confused.

In the 46-second video, recorded in isiZulu, part of it loosely translated, Mampintsha says, “You say I like looking at things, listen here! Everyone is beautiful in their own way, there is no one ugly here.”

Mampintsha has left Mzansi guessing as to who he is referring to and who the message is intended for.

Others could not help but associate it with the Babes vs Makhadzi feud saying he can only be referring to Babes Wodumo who thinks Makhadzi is not beautiful.

Makhadzi refused to be drawn into a catfight with Babes who she accused of attention-seeking.

She mocked her claims and forgave her, and went further to advise her to control her husband.

The Limpopo-born singer said she only came to their studio for business and nothing else.

“I don’t even have your husband’s number and if he has mine I don’t know how he got it,” she added.

However, Mampintsha has been extremely quiet about the incident that sparked the feud only to release the vague TikTok video.

  • Tips on how to plan a self game drive

Tips on how to plan a self game drive

For those who do not see themselves sharing the thrill of a game drive with other travellers, a self game drive is a good option. Chris Manqele, a game driver at Anew Hotel Hluhluwe and Safaris, shares his tips:

Drive an SUV or 4X4 style vehicle

Venturing out in the wild with your hatchback may not be a wise decision. “You should have an SUV or 4×4 as some of the roads are tough to navigate by a small car. You will need a vehicle that can handle any terrain. You do not want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a flat tyre,” said Manqele.

    Purchase a map

Game reserves have maps that they sell at the gate. Manqele said the maps give a clear indication of places within a park and have clear markings. It comes in handy for those self game drives.

    self game drive

Adhere to the game park time

It may seem like a great idea to drive into the game reserve to explore more, but travellers should stick to the game park times. “Most parks close at 6pm in winter and 7pm during the summer months. Travellers need to be out of the park 10 minutes before the closing time,” he said.

Stick to the speed limit of 40km/h

Manqele said travellers need to drive under 40k/h. “You need to keep a safe distance from animals at all times, especially from larger ones who may charge at your vehicle if they feel threatened. Exceeding the speed limit can also put you and the animals at risk,” he said.

  • Consuming drugs and alcohol can be bad for your social life

Consuming drugs and alcohol can be bad for your social life

Researchers suggest not texting while intoxicated or delaying posting on social media to minimise social harm. A new study highlights the negative consequences of social media posts and phone calls made while under the effects of alcohol and drugs. You’ve had a glass too many and couldn’t resist the impulse to call your ex and unburden yourself via voicemail. This unpleasant scene may be terribly familiar to some of us.

According to a new study published in the journal Substance Abuse and carried out by researchers at the Center for Drug Use and HIV/HCV Research (CDUHR) at New York University (NYU), people who regularly consume alcohol and/or drugs often engage in this sort of behaviour and regret it later on. Risky social media posts, including those showing people high on drugs, have the potential to cause embarrassment, stress, and conflict for users and those in their social networks,” said CDUHR researcher Joseph Palamar, PhD, MPH, the study’s lead author and an associate professor of Population Health at NYU School of Medicine.

    drugs and alcohol

“It can also have adverse implications for one’s career, since the majority of employers now use social media platforms to screen job candidates and may search for evidence of substance use. 21% of study participants regretted posting on social media while under the influence of drugs

In this study, the researchers examined data from 872 adults surveyed while entering electronic music dance parties in New York City who reported current or previous drug use. Participants were asked if they had ever posted on social media, called or texted someone, or posed in a photo while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and if they had regretted doing so later on.

The researchers estimated that more than a third of the participants (34.3%) posted on social media while not in their normal state. Of those, 21.4% regretted it. The study also showed that the participants who were most likely to do so were those who had taken cannabis or cocaine.

“While prevention programmes have largely focused on physical safety — for example, not driving after drinking — such programmes can also stress that using a smartphone while high can increase the risk of someone engaging in regretful behaviour.

“Tactics such as using apps to prevent texting while intoxicated or delaying posting on social media until one is no longer experiencing drug effects may help to minimise social harm,” outlined Palamar.
