Somizi’s reality show renewed for another season

Somizi’s reality show is reportedly renewed for another season, as production has begun.

Social media expert, Phil Mphela announced that Living The Dream With Somizi will be returning to your screens pretty soon.

However, the producer of the show has been changed from Legend Manqele to Teddy Geldart.

While there’s no basic explanation for the change, it’s assumed that the saga between Som and his ex-husband, Mohale in 2021 caused the change.

Audio between the two erstwhile couple was leaked in 2021, which caused a bit of chaos, and many assumed Producer Legend Manqele leaked it.

However, he denied the assumptions while speaking with True Love magazine team: “I have no idea who would do something like this,” said the Bar Leader CEO. “This is not how I do things, and I always try as best as I can to protect my peace. I was also shocked when I discovered that the recording had been leaked.”

Meanwhile, Somizi is getting fun drenched while on vacation in Cape Town; he’s also showed off the luxury he behold daily.

  • Marvel character who won’t be in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ -James Gunn

Marvel character who won’t be in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ -James Gunn

James Gunn has revealed to fans that Marvel character Rom the Space Knight won’t be appearing in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, because Marvel no longer holds the rights to the character.

The 55-year-old director responded to a fan who shared some comic book covers and asked if the character could make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) through the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie, but Gunn admitted Marvel doesn’t own the rights to Rom.

The fan wrote on Twitter: “@JamesGunn please make this dream come true! Bring this to the MCU, even if it’s just an Easter-Egg on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (sic)”

But Gunn replied: “Alas I cannot as Marvel no longer holds the rights to Rom – just to some other Spaceknights and parts of the story created in the comics – otherwise, believe you me, ol’ toaster head would probably be in the Guardians by now. (sic)”

‘Expendables’ star Terry Crews was particularly disappointed by the news.

He tweeted: “Damn! I loved the ROM series…! (sic)”
In July, Gunn admitted “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” had “basically been finished for years”.

He said: “It’s basically been finished for years. I keep fiddling with different things and adding things, and figuring out permutations and stuff – I’m in the middle of doing another draft now – but it’s really small stuff in comparison to what it has been.

“It’s basically been finished since three years ago.

“The only time they [Marvel] ever [asked me to include something for future MCU movies] was on the first movie with Thanos, putting Thanos in there. Which they wanted me to do. But besides that they’ve never done that.

“I know that the characters have been through certain things, so I have to deal with that stuff. But for the most part, they never once asked me to put anything in the script for ‘Volume 3’ to set up anything in the future. Nor would I do it, frankly, it’s not really my thing.”

Actress Nomzamo Mbatha flew the South African flag high after bagging a role in the sequel of Coming to America last week – but shortly thereafter, reports claimed that her local fans would no longer be seeing her on popular telenovela, Isibaya.

    Nomzamo-Mbatha

According to Sunday World, due to the 29-year-old’s plans to settle in the US and her new movie role, she would be leaving the local soapie for good. Speaking to DRUM, Nomzamo’s manager Pumza Nohashe denied ever confirming that Nomzamo would be leaving Isibaya for good and said Mzansi Magic would be able to answer the question around Nomzamo’s future with the soapie.

    Nomzamo-Mbatha

I never confirmed to any publication that Nomzamo has left Isibaya for good, you should speak to the people from Isibaya as they would be the ones best to answer that question,” she said. When DRUM contacted Mzansi Magic, Head of Publicity for Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, Philly Kubheka said that the actress, who plays the role of Thandeka Ndlovu on the soapie, was still part of the cast.

    Nomzamo-Mbatha

“As local entertainment channels, we are very proud of Nomzamo Mbatha’s international project and achievements to date. She still forms a critical part of the Isibaya cast,” he said. Meanwhile, Nomzamo has taken to her Instagram page to share how excited she is to be part of the international production and has also celebrated her first week in Atlanta.

  • Scandal actress Mokokobale Makgopa talks about dark-skinned girls in the industry

Scandal actress Mokokobale Makgopa talks about dark-skinned girls in the industry

Scandal actress Mokokobale Makgopa has gushed over dark-skinned actresses in the industry that have broken barriers and made it easier for her to pursue her dream of acting.

Mokokobale, who plays the role of Selewa on the hit E.tv soapie, says representation in the industry was important, especially for those who could feel marginalised because of their skin tone.

“Something amazing happens when you watch stories that reflect your lived experience. There is something magical about seeing someone who has the same hair as you have, the same dark tone that you have represented on national TV.”

She said she was inspired by actresses such as Grace Mahlaba, Masasa Mbangeni and Brenda Ngxoli.

“As a little girl, watching these women who look like me opened the possibilities of me being on national TV as a dark-toned actress. It opened up the realisation that I have a voice and can be heard.”

    Mokokobale Makgopa

She said that while the industry was becoming more welcoming of different skin tones, too often people limit themselves and allow stereotypes to decide what they can, and cannot, do.

Mokokobale’s comments come as the conversation around colourism continues to hog headlines.

Pearl Thusi and Bonnie Mbuli had a heated twar two months ago over “light-skinned privilege” and Beyoncé’ released a song called Brown-skinned Girl on her latest album.

A Nigerian woman identified as Maj left Twitter divided after she sang her own version of the song titled Light-skinned Girls.

  • Dear White People – Season 3

Dear White People – Season 3

The satirical series – which picks up where the acclaimed 2014 film by the same name left off – follows a group of Winchester University’s students of colour as they navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness (or lack thereof) and sometimes misguided activism in the millennial age.

    WHAT WE THOUGHT:

Here’s the thing about watching season after season of a show: It’s easy to get bored. It’s a bit like the characters have become your best friends and you can predict their reaction in any situation. This type of familiarity breeds contempt and the show you once loved becomes the one you sit through on your phone.

This disinterest is something that the people behind Dear White People have taken care to avoid. They have given each character, even those who were not at the forefront in previous seasons, a real and relatable journey.

Of course, fans of the movie and the previous seasons of the Netflix show will remember that the show focuses on Sam White, a compelling student activist and simultaneously flawed anti-hero. Throughout the first and second season of the show, we saw the radio host fight for racial equality as well as deal with her own demons. In this season we meet a different Sam; she’s burnt out and exhausted, from not only fighting racism on her campus at Winchester but in her greater community in America.

    Dear White People

The fatigue has spread through her friends and even her past enemies. The old crew have almost all chosen to focus on what they need to succeed, or who they want to love, or even how to process their own trauma.

One of the most poignant storylines involves a beloved character who gets everything he wants in this season but cannot access his joy because he hasn’t processed his trauma after a violent incident. On paper, that premise could be very lacklustre, but the finished product is entirely different. It’s a richly woven tapestry of life experiences. Some characters find themselves through sexual misadventures while others lose themselves in relationships that aren’t working. My favourite part, though, has been seeing those characters interact with each other. It’s like seeing a bigger story that the showrunner and writers are trying to tell.

It’s a story of how the worst things that we go through change not only our own lives but also those of our nearest and dearest. In a lot of ways, we bleed onto each other. We affect each other in ways that we can’t possibly know the full extent of.

That’s the heaviness of this comedy. The truth of shared human experiences slips in through the laughs. That being said, the laughs are fantastic as well. There’s an incredible amount of post-modern humour, complete with intertextual references that fans of pop culture will love — especially those who watch Handmaid’s Tale, Queer Eye and Tyler Perry movies.

I would say that everyone who has watched Dear White People for the last two seasons should watch this season. It feels like the people behind the scenes, and even the actors, have all tried their best to make a piece of art that holds a humorous mirror up to modern society and activism.
