“Yes it is one of the best platforms in the music space but [thank] God I did not win. I’m thankful because opportunities to work with the best in the industry like Prince Kaybee, Afro’traction, Jub Jub and other surprises [yet to drop] was not gonna be possible.”
Fans agreed with the star, and said he was the winner in their eyes. Yes it is one of the best platforms in the music space but ?? God I did not win it.

    — Mthokozisi NdabaMngoma (@MthokozisiNdab) August 14, 2019

Speaking to TshisaLIVE late last year, Mthokozisi recounted how he feared for his career after the competition The star was accused of assaulting a woman in a Hillbrow flat shortly after the end of the competition. The case was later dropped, but Mthokozisi told TshisaLIVE in those moments people thought he had ruined his career and that he would never bounce back.

    Mthokozisi Ndaba

“It was hard. People were saying all kinds of things about me. I didn’t have many gigs and I wasn’t going out much. I knew that I needed to be in the public eye to rebuild my career but all I wanted to do was sit at home and record or sing. That is all I have ever wanted to do.

To make a name for yourself after Idols is difficult, even for the winner, but I tried not to think about that. I told myself that I may not have won but I can still use this as a springboard to go into other things. I moved back to Durban and refocused.

The reality TV tackles social issues affecting the youth of South Africa, it said on its social media accounts. The first season saw DJ Zinhle helping young women in her childhood hometown in KwaZulu-Natal.

“What I remember about Soweto is just being a kid with no ambition, with so much fear, just because everybody that was around us wasn’t successful at all. The only thing that they were doing was actually just chilling in the corners. The fear that I had as a kid was to be one of those guys. I want to help people, especially the guys from the township,” said Modise of the show.

    Teko Modise
Modise inspired his fans in the past few weeks after sharing a picture of his father, who he said he had forgiven.

Lerato Kganyago Rubbishes claims she is copying Bonang Matheba

Lerato Kganyago was minding her own business on Twitter this week when a tweep accused her of stealing Bonang Matheba’s idea. The Twitter user told Lerato and her The Bridge co-host, Dineo Ranaka, to remove the Ask A Man segment from their Metro FM show as the idea belonged to Queen B.

    Bonang-Matheba

“@METROFMSA #TheBridge Ya we had enough with Ask A Man tlhe, can’t y’all @dineoranaka, @Leratokganyago be creative and come up with something fresh. Phela since it was started by @bonang_m ages ago. Make a plan,” he wrote.

We’re not surprised that Lerato was quick to set the record straight.

Bonang famously left the radio station in 2017 after a line-up change saw her having to share her show with Lerato. Within hours of the shakeup, Queen B announced she was resigning.

    Lerato Kganyago and bonang Matheba

But the 32-year-old insisted it was not because of Lerato. Queen B claimed Metro FM officials only told her about the changes an hour before she was about to go on-air.

Some Twitter users blamed Lerato for Bonang’s dramatic exist. Lerato described the day as one of her “darkest” moments in her radio career.

… on that day and I got blamed for her leaving the show…  it was very tense… And I thought, ‘you know what another teething phase, we’ll be okay by tomorrow’. But, uhm, it was just awkward,” she said during The Drive on Metro with Mo Flava and Masechaba Ndlovu earlier this year. Lerato was quick to dismiss any beef with Queen B during the interview. She said she has “so much respect” for B.

Khanyi Mbau is back on Uzalo

Khanyi Mbau, who plays Dinekile on the SABC 1 soapie Uzalo , is back on our TV screens and fans couldn’t be more happier! The self-proclaimed ‘ancestor of the slay queens’ received a very warm welcome on her Twitter page last night by both her loyal and new fans.

    Khanyi Mbau

Real talk though, Khanyi Mbau really knows how to rock her role on Uzalo. Even her followers who don’t normally watch the soapie admitted to have only tuned in because they saw that she was back: Shu Mzala, you are rocking mos!

When Khanyi was first headhunted for this role, early last year 2018, it was initially only for a short term. But the producers loved how perfectly she fit the character so they planned to bring her back in the later seasons.

    Khanyi Mbau

Khanyi Mbau’s character, Dinekile a.k.a ‘Lady Die’, is a sexy and slightly deranged cousin to MaNgcobo (played by Dawn Thandeka King ). She aspires to live the fancy life of her cousin but was never able to, despite her good looks. She has also served some time in jail for petty crimes so she’s pretty streetwise and knows a trick or two in the ways of the underworld.

In an interview with Drum, Miss Mbau shared how Dinekile and herself had similar characteristics. She said:

    Khanyi Mbau

“It’s exactly me. Lady Die is a go-getter like Khanyi. We both have big dreams. We both love the adrenalin rush and see the world as an oyster. The difference is that Khanyi is a grown up but Lady Die doesn’t seem like someone who will grow up any time soon. Another difference is that Khanyi is not a friend of crime like Lady Die.Now we know why she slays that role so much!
