Congratulatory messages shower in for Thuli Phongolo who is allegedly pregnant

Dj and actress Thuli Phongolo’s dating life has been the source of a lot of excitement and speculation from her fans and Mzansi in general. And now, tweeps are convinced that she is pregnant, making it even more exciting.

The actress has been linked to dating multiple different men in the past, even though she rarely ever goes public with her romantic relationships. The people she has been thought to be with include Mr JazziQ, Master KG, Duduzane Zuma and DJ Maphorisa, to name a few.

But the internet got a treat recently when social media detectives found what they thought to be proof that she is seeing DJ Maphorisa. The two of them posted individual pictures in what seemed to be a hotel room, and when our keen Mzansi FBI zoomed in and compared the two pictures, the two DJs seemed to have shared the hotel room.

Naturally, there was a lot of excitement, as Mzansi labeled Dj Maphorisa a star. Of course, this had something to do with the cryptic tweet Thuli had posted before, which many took to be her confession that Madumane was great in the sack… if you catch my drift.

Now, Thuli recently shared a tweet that has everyone convinced she and Phori have reached the next stage of their “secret” relationship. She went online to ask whether she had food poisoning, probably because she was experiencing symptoms. You know, like throwing up?

Of course Mzansi jumped to the biggest conclusion possible: that she is pregnant. She was advised to find a pregnancy test as soon as possible.

  • 2022 marks the return of the high heel

2022 marks the return of the high heel

The pandemic put some of our most beloved fashion trends in hibernation while countries spanning the globe underwent strict lockdowns. Zoom calls took over board room meetings and the House Party app replaced social gatherings for months, forcing functionality, comfort and all forms of stripped-down, fashion, beauty and lifestyle trends to rise up the ranks of popularity. In essence, our previously ostentatious ways of existing were humbled in a bid to fit in with the “new normal”.

But, not any longer. In the new year, curfews are lifting – as are travel bans – and clubs, restaurants and businesses of all kinds are beginning to thrive once more. And, as a result, we’re looking to dress for the occasion. Whether you’re donning a pair of boyfriend jeans for something casual or a little black dress for a grand affair, one thing’s for sure, we’ll be finishing off every outfit with a pair of heels to complete the look.

Returning with a vengeance, high heels of the moment take on abstract and innovative designs with more edge, colour and creativity than we’ve seen in recent years.

Brushing off the comfort shoe trend of lockdown, high heels were all over the Spring/Summer 2022 runways in Milan and Paris.

From Gianvito Rossi’s platform mules with plexi uppers to Saint Laurent’s PVC stilettos — in all their toe-squishing splendour — these designs serve as an indicator of what’s next in fashion.

Of course, cushy and comfortable shoes will always have a place in the fashion space, with white sneakers remaining a wardrobe staple that traverses various seasons and trends. However, the likes of the mercifully comfortable Crocs, arch-supporting Birkenstocks and fleece-lined Ugg boots won’t necessarily outlast these classics. But for now, we’re embracing high heels – the louder, more over-the-top and whimsical, the better.

5 styles of heels we’re loving in 2022:

    Unique heels

From Fendi and Versace’s maximalist collaboration featuring seemingly invisible heels to Loewe’s hyper realistic shoes with soles resting on what appears to be ordinary objects like bars of soap and birthday candles – these heels are taking quirky to new heights. If you’re looking for a way to express yourself and add some personality to your outfits, a stand-out pair of heels is the ideal accompaniment.

    Vibrant orange

Dopamine dressing is a trend that’s emerging in the post lockdown era of fashion. It involves dressing in bold patterns and bright colours, mixing and matching contrasting shades for a colour-blocking effect to evoke feelings of happiness. Bright colours were abundant at fashion shows for the season ahead, with orange being the most noticeable. Louis Vuitton, Prabal Gurung and more high-end designers had their models sporting luminous peachy hues for an extra fun pop of colour.

Amina Muaddi’s clear, Cinderella-style Begum heels had people frothing at the mouth back in 2019 when model Kendall Jenner wore them. As the “it” designer of the moment, anything this Italian designer creates is bound to lay the foundation for some of the next season of trends. From crystal buckles to metallic ribbons, for 2022, it’s the jewel-encrusted embellishments that adorn every one of her stylish creations that have people talking. So fun and glitzy, they are the ideal party shoe for upgrading any outfit.

People are just loving boots for every occasion and season, whether it is in the hot summer months, breezy spring or autumn and winter. They pair effortlessly with everything from tights and knit sweaters, to mini skirts and stockings, maxi dresses, jeans and more. Popular styles for the year are chunky platforms with lug soles and block heels for something more robust and durable. However, sexy stilettos that zip up at the thigh are also having their moment. In a range of prints, from animal to 70s florals, and loud, funky colours, in 2022, the heeled boot is all about making a statement.

Teeny, tiny micro heels are back in a big way. The trend is perfect for easing back into heel-wearing after practically two years of not going out or having an occasion to dress up for. These dainty kitten-esque high heels have been seen in a range of styles from mules to almond-toes with an ankle strap and even sling-backs. They are great for elevating an outfit, without too much distraction. However, that’s not to say they aren’t as bold as your average stiletto. In vibrant shades, luxurious materials (suede, velvet, silk and leather), they can be just as glamorous.

  • Skeem Saam actress Shoki Mmola aka Celia Kunutu under fire over bikini photos in public

Skeem Saam actress Shoki Mmola aka Celia Kunutu under fire over bikini photos in public

After sharing the pictures on her socials, she has received both positive and negative reactions from social media users expressing their views. In short, shots have been fired!

When you check out actress Shoki Mmola who is popularly known as Celia Kunutu on SABC1’s hit soapie Skeem Saam, Instagram page, you will see just how much she appreciates her body, and that’s lovely as she has a great body. However, pictures of her walking in her bikini in public places, like petrol stations, have shocked the public.

Shoki spots beautifully green two-piece underwear, and she is seen to be pouring petrol and posing near a supermarket fridge. The pictures could shock anyone because Makunutu is always covered and never shows any skin on Skeem Saam, but Shoki is definitely and not Makunutu. She is a beautiful woman who appreciates her body.

Shoki, to her defence, looks like she has been on holiday somewhere, and that explains the bikini. I guess it shocked us that she went to a very public garage wearing that and not even covering what needed to be covered. As usual, Twitter had mixed reactions to this, some congratulating her on her beautiful body transformation, others simply could believe their eyes and called it weird, and others thought it was a hoax.

As she is a role model, some of her fans believe Shoki should positively impact her followers’ lives and not teach them bad habits. Others think the Skeem Saam actress is trying to stay relevant in showbiz.

Shoki seems to be having fun. Is it weird that she is pouring herself petrol and posing next to fridges half-naked? Well, yes! But wouldn’t you also want to show off your body if it was like this?

Watch – Makhadzi teaches Ramaphosa how to dance during #ANC110 celebrations

Multi-award-winning musician Makhadzi attended the ANC 110 Limpopo celebrations and had a great time teaching President Cyril Ramaphosa how to dance. The talented dancer had fans singing along as she performed, with the ruling party’s leadership on the stage to dance to the music.

Makhadzi is starting 2022 the same way she closed 2021. The Matorokisi singer bought three houses in 2021, one for her grandmother, another for her mother and herself. She said she wanted people close to her to be comfortable first before herself. She finished the year as one of the most successful artists in the country, bagging deals and winning awards.

She won her first international award in Nigeria. She shrugged off competition from Burna Boy, Diamond Platinumz and Fali Ipupa and was announced as Continental Category – Artist of the year winner. She put an electric performance during the awards ceremony.

She signed a deal worth a whopping R120 million with sportswear maker Kicks to design and promote Kokovha inspired sneakers. She showed her mother to the world for the first time. She must be proud of her, given the musician had a difficult upbringing.

Makhadzi was criticised last year for wearing the corruption accused ruling party’s regalia when she was called to the Union Buildings by President Ramaphosa. His followers were unhappy with her association with the ANC and believed she must speak up against the revolutionary party and not support it.

Judges of MasterChef SA announced as viewers embrace local shows kicking off the 2022 slate

That “coming now now” tagline in M-Net’s promo for the fourth season of “MasterChef SA” has been pretty hard to miss.

As far as generating hype around the cooking reality show goes, the channel is certainly working it and then some.

And finally, viewers can put their curiosity to bed as the new judges have been announced. Zola Nene, Gregory Czarnecki and Justine Drake take over the baton from Pete Goffe-Wood, Benny Masekwameng and Reuben Riffel.

To date, there have been three seasons as well as a celebrity edition, which aired in 2015 and was won by comedian Chris Forrest.

While the judging panel is new, the celebrity chefs are well known.

Also an award-winning author, Nene is no stranger to judging on a cooking show. She was a hit when she joined the panel of BBC Lifestyle’s “The Great South African Bake Off” in 2017.

Her effervescent personality is complemented by her adventurous palate and defiant exploration of the classics.

Drake is a doyenne in the food world since 1988. Aside from being the launch editor of “Fresh Living” magazine, she has five cookbooks under her belt.

During the pandemic, when the nation took to cooking like a duck to water, she hosted “Just Cook at Home SA with Justine Drake” on YouTube.

Not to be outshone by his fellow co-judges, Czarnecki, who was born in France, is the head chef at The Restaurant at Waterkloof.

Aside from winning the coveted Chef of the Year award from Eat Out in 2016, he was also a mentor of the prestigious S. Pellegrino Young Chef competition in Africa and the Middle East.

While the new batch of contestants has yet to be revealed, the prize money of R1 million, as well as the title of MasterChef SA, will see everyone bringing their culinary A-game to the kitchen.

The knives will be out and heads will be on the chopping block from Monday, February 28, 2022, at 6pm.
